I think I've finally found the right words: I feel like I'm home in Bermuda.

Everything I love about it - the beach, the landscape, the public transportation system, the Easter-egg-colored buildings with their white tiered roofs, the people and their laid-back attitude - it doesn't all completely add up to why I love it so much. Bermuda is more than the sum of its parts.

It's making me feel like I've got a new reason to live. Like it will be a part of the rest of my life, even if I can't live there and can only visit it once in a while.

I'd heard Mark Twain's quote, "You may go to Heaven, I'll stay in Bermuda." It didn't really impact me at first... I mean, yeah, any island paradise would make anybody feel that way. But... by the end of the week, I got it. I really, truly got it. And I suddenly feel a kinship with him that I hadn't before.

Just for perspective, my normal attitude toward the places I've visited (whether it's Florida, Italy, or just Port Aransas, TX) is "That was fun, but I wouldn't want to live there and I'm glad to be home."

I really wasn't expecting to have such a... gush of emotion from this trip. Maybe I'm still just on a vacation-high. But looking at places to stay for the next trip, less than a week after the first? Not normal. For me anyway.

(This was just gonna be another private entry, but eh...what the heck.)

What do you do when the guy you like is complaining on Facebook about not having a girlfriend?

>:(

I know, I KNOW. But... I just can't.

No review from me on the new Star Trek... just know that I LOVE IT.

Though, I do feel like writing about one part that took everyone by surprise (except me... unfortunately I sneaked a look at the IMDb boards before I saw the movie).

Thoughts on the new Star Trek pairing, its connection to TOS, and why it fills me with glee )

I love Avatar. Love love love it!

So naturally, I started to check out the fandom. Just a couple posts in a not-too-huge community. And... erk.

Fandom Wank only confirmed my fears. This fandom even has its own version of Harmonians! (i.e., Zutara.) I shouldn't be surprised... it is a Nickelodeon show, after all. I'm starting to feel like those ladies on the forum for "mature" Orlando Bloom fans...

So, unless I can find one good forum or other hangout, like I did with LotR, no Avatar fandom for me.

However, I gotta say it gets some awesome pairing names. Kataang! Zutara! Tokka! Sukka! Taang! *g*

Off to find me a Sokka and/or Toph icon...

I had some spiked eggnog in celebration of the end of finals (since it's also the first year I'm "legal" to do so). But honestly, the scotch just ruined it for me.

Sigh. I try and I try to enjoy various forms of alcohol. And I just... can't. :P And I don't like the way it makes me feel. As usual, I'm the opposite of the typical college student.

Heh.

JK outs Dumbledore.

Checked out f_w, and nothing yet. Where is the splodey?!

EDIT: Especially since this news appears to have broken, like, AT LEAST 16 HOURS AGO. That's what I get for sleeping instead of checking the intertubes last night.

Me: Why didn't anyone tell me how awesome Invader ZIM was when it was still on TV?!

Everyone: WE DID!!!

Me: .....

Oh well. It's not like my watching it would have kept it from getting canceled. I just.... after reading the scripts and listening to the existing audio recordings, I'm just SO MAD that episodes like "Mopiness of Doom" and "Return of Keef" had to remain unfinished. And... no Invader Dib TV movie! *sniff*

There's no shortage of good fanart, though, which makes me happy.

AAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA! We all know that's what we were REALLY waiting for.

But seriously, the book was wow. Enough to bring me back out of LJ lurkdom, obviously. Didn't finish until last night because I was still working through HBP on Saturday, and I didn't want to speed-read through it again... I think my pulse may have finally reached normal rate.

Have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE my school?

...Guess not, since I've barely posted in months...

Anyway, I just got Macromedia Studio 8 from them for my Multimedia Production class next semester. Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, etc. Almost $1200 worth of software, and I got it for $183. Legally!

Yep, spring semester is gonna be awesome. (Now that my finals are mostly over, it's easier for me to say that I love my school.)

How sad is it that my reaction to Rumsfeld's resignation was:

"Noooooo! What will the In My Worlds be without El Estrangulador and Chomps?"

I had way too much fun with this. )

I really, really hate Toshiba right now.

My previous laptop that constantly shut off randomly? Toshiba.

The hard drive in my iBook that just had a meltdown? Also made by Toshiba.

Well, okay, the people at the Mac shop said it might not be the hard drive. But everything I googled about my problem pointed to a hard drive issue.

It better not be the logic board...

Man.... why do I have to feel sad every time I listen to this? It's a HAPPY piece!

See, I had never heard it until after I read Emperor Waltz, so the piece has always reminded me of the story named after it - the story that was going to be the END of the series... I'll just never be able to hear the piece without associating it with the story.

there, I managed not to call it a "song" even once! my professors would be so proud.

I have INTERNET ACCESS AT WORK! I picked up a wireless network that's not password-protected. Bwahaha. I can't tell if it's the doctor's office or the orthodontist.

Too bad I'll be leaving this job in two weeks.

Cars!

Okay, now I understand why some critics were less than enthusiastic about this movie. The portrayal of the LA-types hit a little too close to home, eh?

I don't know why I worried. Pixar never fails to stun me.

So for my birthday, I'm gonna go see it again, and drag Brent along with me. Not that I'd have to drag him, but I would if I had to. XD

I... am going to be 20. Eek.

UPDATE 6/15/07: This is waaaay late... but you can now find all my site stuff on Clear Black Lines!

***

My domain expired. I was one day late because it used an email that I rarely check anymore.

*stream of cusswords*

Actually, I'm not sure whether to get another domain or not. I just renewed my webhosting for another year, and I don't want it to go to waste. On the other hand, I probably shouldn't try to keep up a site that I'm so obviously uninvolved with. I had been thinking about taking it down, but amazingly enough, I was still getting visitors to the Pocahontas site and didn't want to let them down.

So... I guess now's as good a time as any. I probably won't try to put the site back up, but if anyone is interested, I still have all the files (plus more I was going to update with) and I'm willing to turn over "Just Around the Riverbend" to a new maintainer. ([livejournal.com profile] clearblacklines? Do you know anyone?)

(I'm sticking this post at the top of my journal for now so it'll maybe show up on Google to let people know what's going on. Oh, maybe I should put more keywords in here... how about Ainaweth, If I Never Knew You, Pocahontas script... blah de blah...)

Never mind. I'm just going to get a new domain.

Okay, I need to quit with these needless half-nighters, or I'm going to be pulling the dreaded all-nighters once I start getting real projects to work on.

Am hoping she won't take off too many points for it being only 3 1/2 pages instead of 5. If she does, well, it's my own stupid fault. At least my grammar/spelling and class track record are working in my favor.

My piano performance is over, my paper's done, so I'm pretty much home free. Only 5 class days left...

You know you seriously need to get your own checks when you transfer money to your parents' account and then have your dad write the check for you to pay your income taxes.

So, I'm an official Taxpayer for the first time now. I grumbled about it at first because everybody else was getting refunds, but I'm not complaining anymore because... oh yeah... I still live with my parents.

At work, prices for dry cleaning were just raised from $3.75 apiece to $4.25, which will mean more irate customers to deal with. Oh joy.

I need to get a move on looking for a music-related entry-level job to get some experience before I graduate. I can't believe I'm nearly halfway through my 4 years (or 3 1/2, if all goes well).
