I want to do something creative. Write, draw, compose...something.

That timed essay on the CLEP test made me realize that the only things I've written in the past few...years?...were school assignments. The only time I write voluntarily is for LJ, message board posts, or my diary.

But I have no stories in my head, or music in my head (except other people's). And the only thing I want to try to draw is Klaus...but I'm scared to. Because I know it won't look right at first, and then I'll get discouraged and lose my inspiration...so I'm just not trying at all.

I'm too much of a perfectionist. That's what's stifling my creativity...

I made it through my first semester of college with straight A's!

I find it hilarious that it was just recently that I saw Napoleon Dynamite, in which the main character says "freakin' idiot!" all the time. Because only days after that was when I started reading a manga in which one of the main characters is always calling people "idiot."

Yes, I am easily amused. Yes, I am still up at 2am.

Finally saw Napoleon Dynamite. Now I can be like all the other cool kids at college.

This evening's birthday party for Jennifer? One more reason I love college. Met some great people.

Until now I hadn't realized how much I need to get out like this more often. I don't consider myself very social, but I had a blast. I love my friends I've made this semester.

That's IT.

Today's front page headline: "Rigid theologian elected."

You know what? I don't care if it has a great comics page. When I move out, I refuse to subscribe to that paper.

I told my parents, and they agree that it's the last straw. My dad said he'd cancel. (Heh. Bit of a shock at first, since I wasn't prepared to lose my comics that soon.)

I'm still debating whether or not to write to the editor about it. ("Hey, I'm a college student, and here is one customer you will never have because of your ridiculous headline. Who are you to judge other people's religions, you pie-throwing ex-'Catholic' libs?")

Geez, I haven't even been 18 a year yet and they've already sent me a jury summons. But I can get out of it since I'm in college. Bwahahaha!

And apparently I'm required by law to give my race. Fine. I'll put "multiracial." Like my mom said, I wonder what they would do if I put "Vulcan?" Or "Homo Sapiens?" Antarctican? Martian? Sindarin?

It'd probably just be proof enough that I missed qualification #4, or whatever number it is, requiring me to be of "sound mind."

*lightbulb*

Maybe in the Harry Potter universe, Lord of the Rings is real ancient history!

...

Cue the blank stares.

And then the links to 50 million pages of discussion of this theory in the HP fandom.

I guess it hasn't hit me yet, even though we've been "waiting" for at least 48 hours.

While my parents' generation lived through about 5 popes, John Paul II was the only pope I ever knew. And he wasn't just any pope, he was one of the greatest popes in history.

So now, I sort of have the attitude of "He can't be dead. He has to live forever and ever, or at least as long as I live." And "What do you mean, we get a 'new' pope? He is THE Pope!"

I wish I could philosophize, or something...to put all my feelings into words. But I've already got fantastic philosophers on my friends list, and... I keep fluctuating between joy at his entering heaven and horrible sadness at the loss of him as our earthly leader. And denial.

All I want to say to him now is: St. John Paul the Great, pray for us!

Why do I keep having this mental picture of John Paul II getting up, going to his window, shouting "April Fool!" and then continuing on for the next 15 years?

*sigh*

Don't I wish. :(

I made a resolution to stop going to bed after midnight, and I've had zero success. I stayed up past 1:00 on Sunday night even though I had an 8:00 class the next morning. And I've been so busy that it's caused my sleep loss to build up this week... so last night was the third time in a row that I've fallen asleep before getting ready for bed and then woken up around 3-5 to realize that I left the light on too.

I know it's got to stop. But I can't help it. The Internet is too addictive...

We're probably going to watch The Passion today. I think I'd rather go see The Passion Recut, but there was only one showing at our theater, which I couldn't make it to.

If I could say one thing to those [expletives] applauding the starvation of Terri Schiavo...

Many that live deserve death. But some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them?

One of the many things I love about LotR is that so many quotes and themes from it are relevant today.

I will not elaborate any more or I will just work myself into a rage and won't be able to sleep.

Well, after seeing The Village, I think at last I've found an actress I can really like.

And now I'm DEAD TIRED and have a headache after my concert tonight. That Tchaikovsky symphony was the longest work we've ever played. But we got the most applause/cheers that we've ever gotten, I think...which makes everything worth it.

Total Geek Moment of the day: I saw a license plate with the last three letters "PWN" and cracked up.

Happy Singles Discrimination Day... I mean V-Day.

Um... I wore a red shirt to work?

And the one nice gift today was that, for once, the poodulls didn't win in the Non-Sporting group in the Westminster dog show. (Go Schipperkes!!)

You Are 21 Years Old

21

Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe.

13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.

20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.

30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!

40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.

Perfect. XD

Oh, and this here icon? First attempt with the Gimp, which is mucho excellente, especially considering the price. (Built-in GIF animator! w00t!)

RotK EE STILL ISN'T HERE, so I went out and rented it because the mail doesn't come on Sunday. I was amazed that Blockbuster still had two copies left. And I didn't have to wait in a line at all. :D

Now we'll have plenty of time to watch it and savor it tomorrow, since for once we have a free Sunday afternoon. Ahh, bliss...

How did I keep myself from watching it as soon as I got within range of a DVD player? I don't know. Maybe because I've waited so long already that a little longer won't matter. And since I have waited this long, my first viewing had better be freakin' good. And also because.... well, this is IT. At least right now, I still have something to anticipate. After this one, it's over.

Well, until The Hobbit, that is. ;)

Finished GoF last night. I stayed up until 2:30 to do it, though. XD
